Poster Boy

Slicing and dicing the posters of the New York subway system, Poster Boy creates original pieces of art on the fly using only his trusty razor.  Check the video below to get an idea of his working process and check his flickr page for other pieces of his work.

Banksy In NY: Part 2

So the madness continues with the mystery man opening a storefront exhibit.  The Village Pet Store and Charcoal Grill showcases Banksy’s work in an entirely new way: animatronics.  While the man has always had a fascination with Disney-inspired motifs and visuals, he’s now managed to subvert the jump from Steamboat Willie to The Happiest Place on Earth.

In a statement, Banksy had this to say:

New Yorkers don’t care about art, they care about pets. So I’m exhibiting them instead. I wanted to make art that questioned our relationship with animals and the ethics and sustainability of factory farming, but it ended up as chicken nuggets singing. I took all the money I made exploiting an animal in my last show and used it to fund a new show about the exploitation of animals. If its art and you can see it from the street, I guess it could still be considered street art.

Check the video to get an idea of the exhibition and check out Wooster Collective for more pictures.

Ask Adam Yauch Anything On Current TV

Adam Yauch/MCA/Nathaniel Hornblower/Cochise is currently promoting his streetball documentary, “Gunnin’ For That Number 1 Spot” and will be stopping by Current TV’s L.A. studios to answer any and all viewer questions.  Ask him anything.  A-na-thang-a.  Ask him what his favorite underwear is.  Ask him if he thinks Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams is as weird as it looks.  Ask him if those 1-800 singles lines are actually legit.  You know, basic, get-to-know-ya-kind-of-stuff.

This runs through Monday so don’t hesitate.  You can submit you questions here

‘Gunnin for that #1 Spot’ Trailer

Featuring past and future Arizona Wildcats, Jerryd Bayless and Brandon Jennings, this movie looks like streetball at its best and features a new Beastie Boys track as well as Jay-Z and Nas on the soundtrack.

From The Playlist

Directed by Adam Yauch (of the Beastie Boys), Gunnin’ follows eight of the country’s hottest high school basketball players as they play on the world’s most famous outdoor court: Rucker Park in Harlem — a place where nicknames are branded and legends are made. Blending this next generation of b-ball players with a mix of raw hip-hop, jazz and break beats, Adam Yauch’s unique kinetic filmmaking makes Gunnin’ an explosively entertaining look at soon-to-be NBA All Stars. The film features Jerryd Bayless, Michael Beasley, Tyreke Evans, Donte Greene, Brandon Jennings, Kevin Love, Kyle Singler and Lance Stephenson. Gunnin will be in theaters on June 27th, 2008.
