Vans Syndicate + Steve Olson

These are niiiiiiiice.  In a teamup with skate legend Steve Olson, the Vans Syndicate kids have created these hi and lo sneakers for their Fall ‘08 lineup.  The snakeskin might be the best part.  FINALLY, something that matches my underwear.

Roads? Where Nike’s Going, They Don’t Need Roads

Here’s the prototype:

And here are the actual ones:

My 8-year-old-self is jumping for joy at the site of these.  No word on a release date yet, but we’re guessing 2015 (duh).

Play line by Comme des Garcons + mp3

Here at Commotion we like to consider ourselves men of the people.  We’ll leave it to others to give free advertising to $2,000 pieces of clothing.  Hell, I can’t even pronounce Comme des Garcons, and we’ve always felt that if you have thousands of dollars lying around, you should use it on something other than [...]

‘No Means No’ T By Bodega

Yes, the Boston fans were really chanting “NO MEANS NO!” every time Kobe caught the ball.  No, it did not refer to their sweltering defense.  Yikes.
Anyhoo, in celebration of banner number 17 (I’ll never get tired of hearing that), the guys over at Bodega created this limited-edition t-shirt.

Alright, this pic has been out for a few days now but what the hell, here you go if you haven’t caught it yet.  Here’s what we know about the Air Yeezy:  uber exclusive, may not ever get a release, aaaaand that’s about it.  Come on people, what will it take to get a Wikipedia [...]

New Tees @ Tradition

Like Johnny Drama, we rarely venture over the hill and into the post-apocalyptic hellscape known as “the valley.”  HOWEVER, on those infrequent occasions we’re always sure to stop by Tradition for the latest streetwear and tees.  Recently the guys over there got some new shirts, by the likes of Rogue Status, Crooks & Castles and [...]

In4mation Velzy Sunglasses

If Jeff Spicoli had worn iconic shades instead of slip ons, these probably would have been them.  Checkered and playful, like a good memory, these shades will help get you through the summer without getting sent to the principal’s office.
Thanks to Hypebeast for turning us on to these.  More pics after the jump.

More Hotrod Awesomeness + Piet Mondrian Nikes

Hotrod has to be one of L.A.’s best-kept secrets.  This place might not have the immediate name recognition of other streetwear shops but damn they have some cool stuff.  Take a look at their online store or give them a call at 310.446.5527 if you hope to have any chance of landing these.

New Pharrell, Julian Casablancas & Santogold Track for Converse + MP3

We mentioned this collabo a while ago and it sounded like something that could either be Mount-Olympus-awesome or ear-rapingly bad. Thankfully it falls more into the Mount Olympus category. The track is called “My Drive Thru” and as previously mentioned it was commissioned as part of Converse’s centennial celebration.
Stream it at Stereogum. [...]

The Virgins: New Album, model citizens & mp3

The Virgins make simple, hard-to-dislike rock.  Shades of The Stones at their funkiest and The Strokes (if they liked to have fun) make their music ass-shakingly awesome.  They’re album came out yesterday and now they’ve been photographed by gonzo photographer, Terry Richardson for Vogue Homme.  We have to say the guys clean up nice.  Too [...]

Nike Be True Family Reunion

This past Sunday, Nike hosted an exclusive event to celebrate the inimitable Dunks.  Festivities included the hip hop orchestra conducted by Double G, The Cool Kids and No Age.  Along with the music there was a Celtic dunk tank, free BBQ, a slip and slide and, oh yeah, free Dunks for lucky party goers (like [...]

Santa Cruz x Puma - First Round Hi

Before we say anything else, it would take a special man to pull of bright blue, zebra striped hi tops.  We’ll leave it at that and also add that if you are that man, then today’s your lucky day.

Eley Kishimoto Chuck Taylors

Though not an official Converse release these sneakers from Eley Kishimoto certainly follow the CT template.  They say everyone owns a pair of these well, if so, these are the ones I might choose.
